Experience

An English Montreal School Board Teacher graduated from Bard College in New York State, I have been tutoring and teaching for seven years in subjects ranging from literature, to philosophy, to urban studies. My training through Bard College's Composition, Theory course familiarized me with the newest and most reliable tutoring methods. My students have included undergraduate students at Bard College, a prestigious liberal arts college in New York state; inmates pursuing BA degrees in a maximum security prison; Palestinian undergraduate students at Al Quds-Bard, the West Bank's only liberal arts college; adolescent creative writers at the Putney Summer Programs, a high school enrichment program in Vermont; and secondary school students in Montreal. An avid reader and critical writer, I have gotten my fiction published in literaryjournals and have been awarded Bard College's Bill Sanders Memorial Prize for appreciative, elegant, and insightful critical writing in English literature. I further honed my writing skills as a copy-editor for several published writers, including Edie Meidav for her novel Lola, California (Farrar, Straus and Giroux) and Ioannis Pappos for articles published in the Huffington Post and OUT Magazine. Students and supervisors have called me a compassionate, insightful, and inspiring tutor. Rather than correct their papers, I teach my tutees to improve their own writing and thinking skills, as I believe in their abilities to produce strong work.

Hobbies

My hobbies include writing fiction; reading fiction, poetry, and theory; bicycling and jogging; watching movies; gallery- and museum-hopping; travelling; listening to music; and making collages and sculptures. I harbor growing interests in North American prison systems and in New Religious Movements. I hope to continue pursuing these interests while dedicating myself to literature and writing. English-French-Spanish trilingual, I am also fond of languages.
